Absolutely spoilt by @brieradford & her gorgeous gifts! Luggage tag, travel wallet & 2 boxes of Macarons!! #ihavethebestfriends

My last few weeks in Australia have left me completely shocked with the kind hearted caring people I call my friends & the world around us in general.
Ever since I can remember I’ve been infatuated with the idea of travel & experiencing the world & all it has to offer.

After making my first trip overseas just before my 1st birthday, the travel bug has well & truly riddled me for the entirety of my young life.
Europe became the deciding destination for my first solo trip after my best friend of primary school moved back to France, I instantly found a direction & goal for my ‘gap year’ which was still 4 years away.

My passion for adventure only grew stronger in this time & now I am proud to say that after years of planning, saving, hoping & wishing i am finally off to follow my dreams to travel Europe on Monday 28th May!

Only in the past few days has the significance of this trip dawned on me, not only for myself as I have discovered, but friends & family especially, their pride & support has sincerely touched me, although at times I felt helpless & as though no one understood my embarrassingly ‘stingy’ lifestyle whilst I have been saving every penny I can finally see this could not be further from the truth.
Departing in just 2 days, I have been showered in affection, travel trinkets, coffee dates, celebrations, macaroons! & amazing advice. These small acts of kindness have just blown me away & I cannot put into words how highly I hold these friendships & how I wish there was more I could do to show you my appreciation!

Thankyou Family, Friends & Newcastle
for an amazing send off & giving me the chance to follow my dreams.

I’ll keep in touch,
Sahra x

lesrougefox asked: I love your blog Sahra! I really like your style of writing and all the cute photographs:)

thank you very much!

i realize its still very minimal but i’m looking forward to being able to upload photos & tips from my travel experiences in which I’m leaving in 6 days!

One Penny Black

One Penny Black is a fairly new edition to Newcastles Hunter St Mall, With their doors first opening just under 2 years ago it has fast become one of the city’s favorite coffee houses & it’s not hard to see why.
The eclectic style of the quaint cafe intimately invites customers to enter at ease knowing the quality & standard of One Penny Blacks coffee & food menu is flawless as they ‘strive for consistency, which we believe is our strength in the local cafe scene’ says Bec, who shares ownership with her two siblings, Gareth & Ally.
‘After running the first ‘Red lantern night maket’ with our friend Justine & having always wanted to open a Cafe together, We realized how under serviced Hunter St Mall was when it came to good coffee’ says Bec & after their preferred shop space in the mall became vacant ‘we recognized this was a chance for us to finally open a cafe’.
The quirky grunge style of the shop is a combination of each siblings individual experiences from traveling the globe, to living in different parts of the country, Ally & Becs love for blogging & ‘rummaging through second hand stores & antique traders’ is clearly shown in pictures above as timeless vintage wallpaper covers the back wall complimenting the adjoining walls, one in particular covered with countless trinkets & frames of art, photos, a wooden mustache!
This personalized decor gives the store a warmth & comforting atmosphere - perfect surroundings for relaxing over a coffee & perhaps one of their signature toasties with Jarlsberg cheese, rocket & home made indian chutney?
The modest prices of the hand made dishes offered at One Penny Black make it the perfect venue for a quick bite to eat, lunch/breakfast catchup with friends or coffee to go. With an always exciting specials menu, coffee, lunch, breakfast, handmade chocolates & cakes, your looking a only spending approx. $20 per person, receiving great, friendly service & a meal that does not disappoint.
One Penny Black has brought a welcomed new presence to the Hunter St Mall, with the inviting aroma of coffee beans spilling onto the footpath & friendly staff, happy to recommend new & exciting menu options, it is a fun, unique & unmissable dining opourtunity every novocastrian & traveler should experience.

Missy Mou

Missy Mou Boutique is a recent favorite I’ve discovered & have found it almost impossible not to make regular visits to indulge in the new designs & collections arriving in store.

Owned & Created by Mother-Daughter Duo Stacey & Margaret, Missy Mou proudly offers a unique hand-picked selection of Australia’s finest well known & up & coming labels including; Shona Joy, Ebony Eve, Finders Keepers, Cameo, Lilya, May, Arhnem, House of Wilde, Millie Loves Min, Somedays Lovin’, The Shanti Butterfly & many more with prices ranging from $20 -$350, there truly is something for everyone!

Note above the beautiful white chest of draws acting as a centerpiece for the shop, showcasing delicate pieces of jewelry, cosy knits in perfect timing for winter & a loud, statement orange colored blazer that was a personal favorite find of the day, I couldn’t bring myself to leave without exploring the shop from head to toe!

Missy Mou have shared their passion with fellow Novocastrians for just over 3 years, ‘When I returned to Newcastle after living away in Sydney & London, It just seemed like the perfect time. It was also a huge bonus that my mum was keen to be involved too!’ says Stacey who finds her style inspiration everywhere from ‘Celebs, people in the street, bloggers, friends & customers’. This ability to absorb & retain experiences & influences from world is clearly visible in the fresh, on-trend set up & design of the store. Stunning glass windows frame the front of the shop, almost as if one is peering into a luxurious new world of classic, feminine, easy-wearing clothing & accessories! Its rare that one can walk into a shop & find a number of must-have garments in each visit, Missy Mou has achieved this & should be without a doubt your first stop when shopping for special events, your new favorite staple wardrobe pieces or even just a cosy day in the park.

I was warmly welcomed by staff member Bindi , who allowed me to use the store as a canvas to create & play with my own outfit stylings & ideas, as well as happily discussing new trends & favorite garments from the store (pictured above one of her current favorite garments) the staffs encouragement of creativity & personal style gives customers the freedom to explore the numerous outfit possibilities & options available right at their fingertips.

Located just 2 mins from the picturesque Newcastle Beach at the far end of Hunter st,

home to a variety of continuously growing & changing shops & cafes that are not to be missed!

Begin at Missy Mou Boutique, take a few hours out of your day to stroll adventurously down hunter st & bask in the quirky atmosphere of the mall & all it has to offer.

Missy Mou offers customers a smorgasbord of stunning Australian fashion with service to match!

Guanabana

Guanabana is one of my most frequently visited stores in my hometown of Newcastle.
Stocking exquisitely unique brands ranging from an affordable $50-$350 with a not to be overlooked selection of stock on the conveniently placed sales rack residing next to the quaint change rooms. Brands including; Tallulah, Jeffrey Campbell, Nookie, The Shanti Butterfly, as well as their own exclusive ‘Guanabana’ designs, whose rustic colours, playful patterns & inventive structures of each garment creates a ‘Feminine meets beatnic’ feel for the brand, says owner Linda B.
The eclectic layout of the store & it’s boho-luxe atmosphere is further emphasized through quirky architectural creations such as my personal favoroite, Jeffery Campbell inspired shoe tree (pictured above).

The store is situated along the always trendy ‘Darby St’ in Cooks Hill, placed within perfect strolling distance between newcastle’s Civic Park & Bar Beach, complimenting the unique, overall concept of the store with the streets casual yet up-market array of everything from shabby chic cafes, fine dining restaurants, luxurious home wares to pastel inspired beauty salons, the vibe of the store will lure all passers by inside with their open shop front that oozes ‘bohemian chic’ & friendly staff being the gorgeously well-dressed icing on this one-of-a-kind cake!
